Harrison’s Huge Event
There is nothing like catering for kids! They know how to take life and make the most of it. What a blast we all had at the recent Bar Mitvah for Harrison at the Norris Pavillion. Here we have a few of the highlights of the arcade setting and some of the tasty dishes we served that night. The night started off with tray passed appetizers then moved on to food stations.
One of the stations was a Pasta Toss station with choice of angel hair and penne pasta. Topping the pasta guests chose from two different sauces: our fresh Roma tomato basil sauce and a sherry cream sauce with garlic. The toppings included a choice of sundried tomatoes, kalamata olives, wild mushrooms, artichoke hearts, capers and shredded Parmesan Cheese.
The Wok Box Station offered a choice of sesame soy glazed steak, teriyaki glazed chicken or Thai salmon filets. These were served over white sticky rice and served in a Chinese to-go box with chopsticks. The optional toppings included stir fried vegetables, fresh mango salsa, wonton crisps and peanuts an a ginger soy sauce.
And no kid party can be complete without the Americana! Fresh ground chuck, hangar steak and short rib sliders were served on a brioche bun with toppings that included bib lettuce, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions, crispy fried onion strings, truffle butter, turkey bacon, Gorgonzola butter, Swiss cheese and Gruyere cheese.
The Farm-to-Table salad wall was a favorite of both the adults and the kids. The spring mixed lettuce was plated and guests then used the wall to top their salads with toppings such as roasted yellow beets, Persian cucumbers, sliced haricot vert, shredded Asiago cheese, Gorgonzola, toasted farro, candied pecans, pear tomatoes, dried corn, dried cranberries, champagne vinaigrette and pesto buttermilk ranch.
The guests enjoyed a great DJ playing some of Harrison’s favorite tunes while they played a number of classic arcade games.
As you can imagine, not many people were able to resist the dessert station. Our donut bar servers made fresh donuts to order and guests topped them with cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar and sprinkles. They are heavenly if you haven’t tried them!
In addition to the donuts, we served fresh dipped mini Balboa Bars and Banana halves. After dipping them in chocolate, guests could choose to have them rolled in crushed Oreos, chopped nuts, sprinkles or toffee.
After 10pm, we set out the “LATE NIGHT BITES.”
Mini grilled cheese sandwiches were served with tomato soup shooters and bacon.
Crispy short rib mini tacos were served in lime wedges with guacamole, pickled red onion, queso fresco and cilantro.
And the grand finale was the mini chocolate chip cookies served on top of a shot of milk!
